Engagement 03

Senior effectiveness leadership embedded into your organisation or your agency, on a defined engagement.

Where senior expertise is needed on specific work, and a permanent hire is not the right answer. Available to client-side marketing organisations and to agency teams supporting major clients.

What it is

Section 02

Senior effectiveness practitioner capacity, embedded for a defined period.

Embedded Effectiveness Leadership is the variant of Go Ignite's work that operates closest to a day-to-day in-house role. The engagement runs for a defined period, against specific deliverables, with the practitioner integrated into the host organisation's working rhythms and reporting lines.

The mode is appropriate where the work requires senior practitioner judgement applied consistently over weeks or months, and where the host organisation does not have the case for a permanent hire at that seniority, or cannot recruit one inside the relevant timeframe.

What it is not

Section 03

To be clear, the embedded work is not several things often conflated with it.

Not a fractional CMO offer.
Go Ignite does not provide fractional CMO services. The fractional CMO model fits a different commercial context to the one Go Ignite serves. Embedded work is specifically scoped to effectiveness leadership, not general marketing leadership.
Not a substitute for the Diagnostic.
Embedded work delivers operational capacity. It does not produce a diagnostic of the effectiveness culture of the host organisation. Clients who need a structured diagnostic should commission an Effectiveness Culture Diagnostic; clients who need senior practitioner capacity should commission embedded work. They are different services serving different needs.
Not an open-ended retainer.
Embedded engagements are defined in scope and duration. They have a brief, a set of deliverables, and a defined end date. The intent is for the host organisation to be in a stronger position at the end of the engagement than they were at the start, and to no longer require the embedded capacity.
When it works

Section 04

Two specific scenarios where embedded leadership delivers most.

The first is agency-side. A major client engagement requires senior effectiveness leadership beyond the standing capability of the agency team. The embedded model brings that capability in for the duration of the client engagement, with Go Ignite operating as a senior member of the agency team for the period required.

The second is client-side. A marketing organisation has a specific effectiveness workstream that requires senior leadership, but no permanent hire is justified by the scope or the timeline. The embedded model fills that need without the overhead of permanent hire or the limitations of a more traditional consulting engagement.

Engagement model

Section 05

Day-rate engagement. Defined brief. Senior delivery.

Embedded work is charged at a day rate, scoped against a defined brief, with a minimum engagement length appropriate to the scope. The day rate reflects senior practitioner seniority and the integration cost of working as a member of the host team.

Typical engagement lengths run from six weeks to nine months. Engagements over nine months are unusual; if the case for an embedded engagement extends beyond that, the conversation is usually about whether a permanent hire or an EFFECT solution engagement is the right answer instead.

Who commissions it

Section 06

Senior agency leadership. CMOs. Heads of Effectiveness.

On the agency side, embedded engagements are typically commissioned by senior agency leadership, often heading the relevant client engagement directly. On the client side, embedded engagements are typically commissioned by CMOs, Marketing Directors, or Heads of Marketing Effectiveness, often as a way of resourcing a specific workstream without expanding the permanent team.

The Next Step

Embedded engagements are scoped through a discovery conversation about what the work needs to deliver and the realistic shape of the engagement.

A discovery call is the place to begin. Thirty minutes. No obligation.
